Career Guidance for New Aspirants into SAP Industry

Reason for the Blog:

In last couple of months I have been receiving many calls regarding career counselling for new graduates in the SAP Industry concerning the opportunities and  the prospects. So It gave me a thought to present a Blog for all those who are willing to know all the details about the SAP Industry and what it is all about.

Overview of SAP 

SAP, a German Company is the Owner of a world class highly effective, reliable ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning ) software i.e. SAP.

In ERP platform there are many other players such as Oracle, Bann, Microsoft, Tally and many more, however SAP has excelled in many folds then other ERP software’s in the area of integration with entire business operations, accuracy, latest developments, innovations and continuous support from SAP itself for critical issues.

In this way SAP is now an Industry in itself, the ecosystem of SAP is very powerful and strong, as there are many IT companies who are in the field of SAP Consultancy and customer support, A SAP Customer need not have to wait for support in technical or functional issues only from SAP itself as there are large number of service providers in all budget range to support and provide the services.

What is inside the SAP

SAP is a complete business package for all the large, medium, small and micro level industries in the entire area of business operations such as Manufacturing, Services, Banking, Mining and many more.

Let’s take the example of a manufacturing industry and it’s applicability of SAP for its complete business processes.

As SAP is a pure business software, so if we have to start our career in any the above stream then we should have some work experience or knowledge of the specific area we want to excel in. Freshers can also do well provided they have a quick learning aptitude and the required skill set to deal with the challenges.

How to get Knowledge of SAP

In order to start the career in SAP we have the following options

  1. SAP Certifications course from any of the authorized SAP Training Centres, these SAP ATC’s are there in almost all the metro cities. The name of certain authorized training centers are : ATOS, Times Pro, Lethan Genovate, Delphi Etc. ( You can google to know more about them)
  • These courses are either full time or part time ( full time -month; part time -3 to 6 months)
  • Course fee ranges from INR 4,00,000 to 5,00,000 Rupees
  • Certification exam will be online and a decent score of about 70 to 80% is required to clear the certification exam.
  1. SAP uncertified course from any of the unauthorized SAP Training Centres, These training centres provide training in SAP in cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru etc. They don’t give any certificate or recognition but they give basic SAP knowledge required to clear the job interview.

How to start the career in SAP

For a fresher it is always difficult to crack the job interview in SAP, as the expectation of Hiring companies is to get candidate with goods SAP skills and knowledge in respective areas.

However the SAP ATC’s also provide some assistance in getting the job interview, but it is the responsibility of candidate only to clear the job interview.

We should initially aim to get work experience rather than Salary or Positions.
